Publication Ethics
The International Journal of Mathematics and Statistics (ISSN: 2208-2212), published by Southern Cross Academic Press, is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and editorial integrity. The journal adheres to the principles and best practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and applies these guidelines throughout all stages of the editorial and publishing process.
The journal promotes transparency, academic responsibility, and accountability in scholarly communication. Constructive input from authors, reviewers, and editorial board members is welcomed as part of our continuous efforts to enhance editorial quality and maintain rigorous scholarly standards.
Peer Review Model and Editorial Oversight
All manuscripts submitted to the International Journal of Mathematics and Statistics undergo a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential throughout the evaluation process. This model ensures objective assessment and minimizes potential bias.
Submissions are reviewed by qualified subject experts selected by the editorial team based on their academic expertise and relevance to the manuscript’s scope. In addition to scholarly evaluation, manuscripts may be reviewed for clarity, organization, mathematical accuracy, and technical presentation to ensure compliance with journal standards.
Handling of Ethical Concerns and Research Misconduct
The journal takes all allegations of ethical misconduct seriously and addresses them in accordance with COPE guidelines and established ethical procedures.
Research misconduct includes, but is not limited to:
- Duplicate or redundant publication
- Plagiarism or unattributed reuse of content
- Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data
Concerns raised by reviewers, readers, or editors are initially assessed by the editorial team to determine whether a formal investigation is required. Where credible evidence exists, the corresponding author will be contacted and given an opportunity to respond.
If misconduct is confirmed, the journal may take appropriate corrective actions, including manuscript rejection, publication of corrections, or retraction of the article. In cases where clarification is insufficient or communication is unsuccessful, the journal reserves the right to refer the matter to the relevant institutional or academic authority.
Authorship Changes and Contributor Responsibility
Requests for changes to authorship are considered only under clearly defined circumstances and in accordance with ethical publishing practices.
Authorship change requests may include:
- Addition or removal of an author prior to publication
- Addition or removal of an author after publication
To process such requests, the journal requires:
- A written explanation detailing the reason for the proposed change
- Written consent from all listed authors confirming agreement with the change
If consensus cannot be reached, editorial review of the manuscript may be suspended until the matter is resolved. For published articles, unresolved authorship disputes may be referred to the authors’ affiliated institutions for independent investigation.
Commitment to Integrity and Accountability
The editorial board, reviewers, and authors share collective responsibility for maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record. All parties are expected to act in good faith, disclose any potential conflicts of interest, and adhere to accepted ethical standards throughout the submission, review, and publication process.
By following these principles, the International Journal of Mathematics and Statistics ensures the credibility, reliability, and academic value of the research it publishes.
